"Ain't in the Bay No More"
48"X36"
Mixed media on gallery wrapped canvas.
Collaborative project by Katie Cameron, Margie Caswell, Tina Clopton, Bruce Hillenmeyer, Heidi Johnson, Tony Mercurio, Billy Noel, Johnny Piggy, Marie Steiner, Mary Katherine True, Angie Way, and Linda Wilcox.
Inspired by the vivid turquoise waters of the Caribbean, this collaborative piece intentionally moves beyond the traditional image of a calm, tranquil sea. The crashing wave captures the duality of nature, where beauty and power, serenity and intensity can exist side by side. Each artist brought their own unique style to the piece, from subtle, detailed marks to bold, spontaneous gestures, creating a sense of movement, freedom, and energy. Together, their contributions reflect the many ways we experience both nature and life: sometimes peaceful, sometimes exhilarating, sometimes a little unpredictable, but always beautiful. As a final signature of their collaboration, all of the artists signed the back of the piece and added their teal thumbprint, leaving a personal mark on the artwork they created together.
